World Teacher's Day: Arafat Islamic Centre Director, Alh. Abddul Wasiu Jimoh Congratulates Teachers, Urges Govt To Implement New Salary Scheme

 The Director of Arafat Islamic Centre, Ilesha, Alh. Abddul Wasiu Jimoh has congratulated the teachers on the occasion of World Teacher's Day celebration. 


In an interview on Wednesday with our correspondent, the director said that teachers were the bedrock of the development of any nation as no other profession can metamorphose without the input of teachers.

He commended teachers for their commitment to teaching and learning in all public and private schools and affirmed that the government has begun to place a high premium on the welfare of teachers. 


He urged state governments across the country to key into the review of welfare packages for teachers already set for implementation by the Federal Government.

He also appealed to the Federal Government to approved the implementation of the teacher's salary scale so that the teachers can be placed on enhance payment. 



He said, "I am very happy to identify with the teachers globally and congratulate them on the occasion of this year teacher's day. Teachers are the one that trained everybody from the childhood. Whatever you become or you have become today, is majorly due to the effort of teachers. 


"We thank God that nowadays that teachers are being appreciated by the government. Unlike before, it was being said that the reward of teachers is in the heaven.  But nowadays, teachers are being appreciated. Before, teachers didn't reach level of permanent secretary but nowadays, they reach peak of their career as permanent secretary. Teachers are being rewarded by across government in the southwest like Lagos, Oyo, Osun and so on. Besides, some states use to give the best teachers award, in which best teachers are being given fabulous gift. 


"Recently, the Federal Government of Nigeria approved bursary for students studying education in University and college of education. I recall that government has promised to professionalize teaching, so that they will be having professional teachers through the Professional Teachers Council of Nigeria, we just want government to fast action on that.  

"Everybody needs to appreciate our teachers, welcome them, it should go beyond declaring holiday for them, they should be rewarded, the teachers salary scale should be approved for teachers so that they will be placed on enhance payment."

  The Salu of Edunabon, His Royal Majesty Kehinde Oladepo Adesoji, Akinrinsa 11, has reaffirmed that his throne doesn't affected with Kingship case transfer from Court of Appeal, Akure, to Osun. HRH Adesoji stated this in a phone conversation with Pressmen on Thursday. He said that there were three Kingsmaker in Edunabon Olosi, Monigbere and Olukotun, adding that Olosi was appointed in Sept 30,2015, Monigbere died in 2006 and was not replaced before former Salu, Oba Elijah Omoboye joined his ancestors. According to him, HRM Omoloye passed away on Aug 4, 2017 and Emmanuel Olaniyan, Olukotun, also died on Nov 30,2017, three months after the demised of Late Salu,Oba Elijah Omoloye died.    Prof. Adebusuyi Adeniran, a Professor of Migration and Development Sociology, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has called for urgent need to rebrand Nigeria immigration service (NIS)for true structure and responsibilities.
