The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has fixed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as fuel or petrol, at N617 per litre at the peak. A visit to an NNPC filling station in the Central area of Abuja by this reporter confirmed that the fuel price has now been adjusted from N539 to N617 per litre. Another Customer who confirmed this development simply said “It is true, I just bought at N617 per liter,” The immediate reason could not be ascertained but it is not unconnected to the recent projections by oil marketers that fuel price will hit N700 per litre soon. The President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, (NSCIA), and Sultan of Sokoto,/Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Wednesday, the 19th July, 2023 as the 1st day of Muharram, 1445 AH.  The Sultanate Council announced that due to the lack of positive sighting report of crescent in Nigeria. An umbrella body of Muslims groups in the state, Osun State Muslim Community, OSMC, have exonerated the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke of any wrongdoing in the compilation of the list of his cabinet nominees. Addressing newsmen as part of the one week event to mark the 1445 Hijrah Calendar, President of the group, Sheikh Mustapha Olayiwola said the governor has been balance in his appointments so far. The Governor had first appointed his kitchen cabinet who are all Muslims.     The Federal Government on Monday appointed Prof. Lateef Salawu as the Acting Medical Director of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital(OAUTH), Ile-Ife. The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Engr. Funso Adeniyi, made the announcement at the OAUTH Complex in Ile-Ife at a meeting with the stakeholders. Adeniyi during the meeting with the stakeholders of the hospital which includes, Dr Afolabi Owojuyigbe, former Acting CMD and Prof. Olayinka Adegbehingbe, who acted for one week, said the crisis over headship of the hospital has been resolved. The permanent secretary noted that with the peaceful meeting, “OAUTH is back to it’s stand”. According to him, the process for the appointment of the substantive Chief Medical Director for teaching hospital will commence in earnest. The appointment of Salawu, a professor of Haematologist, as the Acting CMD of the hospital for a maximum period of six months, takes immediate effect.
