Image
In a land we know as A Giant Where we all become An Ant With no value to add to The Nation Where we call our fatherland with Passion But the giants decide to block Our Vision The youths were left with no Privacy Then we call on our leaders to show us Mercy Without our knowledge about the Bushwhack Our believe was that we are free from Attack But our busy old fools plans a Smack The white in our flag evades it's Peace With the blood of the youths asking for Peace With the Hashtag “EndPoliceBrutality”  When the armed forces arrive with no Identity To gundown the youths without a Pity We call for an end against Brutality But we gained in return more Cruelty From those who call us the leader of Tomorrow But are we still the leader of Tomorrow? Please “Sọ̀rọ̀-Sókè” if the road is Narrow Our future is Bright and Blur In a community where our Police is Hotspur Now we dine from insecurity to Brutality Brutality to a black tuesday massacre with no Pity We all say a Capital NO TO...

How I Was Fired For Being A Muslim - Minister

Image
A British member of parliament says she was fired from a ministerial job in Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative government partly because her Muslim faith was making colleagues uncomfortable. Forty-nine-year-old Nusrat Ghani, who lost her job as a junior transport minister in February 2020, said she was told by a whip – an enforcer of parliamentary discipline – that her “Muslimness” had been raised as an issue. “I was told that at the reshuffle meeting in Downing Street that ‘Muslimness’ was raised as an ‘issue’, that my ‘Muslim woman minister’ status was making colleagues uncomfortable,” Ghani, Britain’s first female Muslim minister, was quoted as saying. “I will not pretend that this hasn’t shaken my faith in the party and I have at times seriously considered whether to continue as an MP.” There was no immediate response to her comments from the prime minister’s office, but Mark Spencer, the government’s chief whip, said he was the person at the centre of Ghani’s ...

Image
The French Senate has voted in favour of banning the wearing of hijabs in sports competitions, arguing that neutrality is a requirement on the field of play. In their text, senators clearly said the amendment aims at banning “the wearing of the veil in sports competitions”. They added that headscarves can put at risk the safety of athletes wearing them when they practise their discipline. The amendment, proposed by the right-wing group Les Republicains and opposed by the French government, was adopted with 160 votes in favour and 143 against. A commission composed of members from the Senate and the lower house should now gather to find a compromise on the text before it is published, meaning the amendment can still be erased. It is u...
