The brain is one of the body's most essential organs. It makes up about two percent of our body weight, and is the center of coordination for all our body activities including thought, food metabolism, regulation of temperature, etc. It is of high importance to learn how to care for this unique and complex organ, which serves as a major determinant in our overall health and wellbeing. They include:   1) Learning new things:       Our brain is the center of memorization and information. When we learn new things such as facts, a skill or even a language, our brain forms new connections between our neurons or brain cells. This is called "NEUROPLASTICITY". As we practice what we learn, these connections get stronger, and therefore, our memory improves, retain and remember more of what we have learnt.  2) Good brain fuel:       Brain fu...

Humbleness, an integral of Islamic teachings by Tijani Abdul-kareem

Image
Being humble means recognizing that we are not on earth to see how important we can become, but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others. Humbleness they say, is the key to success. Rarely will you see a successful individual who is not humble. Humility is the true key to success.  Dwayne once said, "I'm always asked, 'What's the secret to success?' But there are no secrets, Be humble, Be hungry, And always be the hardest worker in the room."  Islam is a unique religion that gives room to all positive values. Humbleness is one of the positive values Islam encourages. The prophet who was sent as a messenger to the world was very humble. This lead many to Islam. Despite conquering and leading the masses, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) doesn't allow arrogance to eat him up. He didn't use that as an excuse to exploit the poor. He became more humble while dealing with the minors. Once, a man came to the Messenger shaking with fear. ...

Failure; A precession to Success by Rodiyyah Adesina

Image
If the downfall of a man is not the end of his life, then a man's failure shouldn't hinder him from trying again.     Failure in a layman's world means not succeeding in what you do. Etymologically, it may be, but technically, it is not. Sometimes, you need to fail to build yourself.    You failed? Don't be sad. People condemn and discourage failure. Not knowing is still part of success. To fail, is it the end of life? You are not a failure, until you fail to try again.     When you fail, you already know where the problem comes from, Right? Knowing where the problem lies is an advancement. You are dutiful to make an amendment, not to feel dejected. It's okay to be rejected, but it's bad to give up trying again. Funny enough, people are discouraging.    FAIL is just a first attempt at learning. As parents, when your children fail, your duty is to encourage and put them through to do better, not scol...
